In this article, the diagnosis, prevention, and Erectile Dysfunction Treatment Meds will be featured in this article.

Tests And Diagnosis

There are four ways to diagnose if someone has erectile dysfunction. Processes can be physical or on the lab, based on what the patient is more comfortable. Diagnostic tests include physical exams, blood tests, ultrasound, and urinalysis.

  1. Physical Exam – In this test, the doctor will have a careful examination of the patient’s genitals and will be checking the nerves of the organ. The doctor will look for a sensation in the nerves.
  2. Blood Test – This test is done by getting a sample of the patient’s blood and will be checked for heart diseases, diabetes, and other health conditions. A blood test is also done to check the testosterone level.
  3. Urinalysis – This test is done to also find underlying conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and other conditions by taking the patient’s urine and testing it.
  4. Ultrasound – This kind of ultrasound is done differently in males. A specialist will use a transducer to know if there is a blood flow or none in the blood vessels.

Ways To Treat Erectile Dysfunction

There are three ways to treat erectile dysfunction: via pills, and via injections or pellets.

Among these methods, the most effective and the safest is by taking pills. However, this method is not recommended for everyone, especially those who are taking other medication for other conditions. These medications might include drugs for heart diseases and prostate problems.

Pills that can be used to treat erectile dysfunction are Avanafil (Stendra), Sildenafil (Viagra), Tadalafil (Cialis), and Vardenafil (Levitra). The expected duration of the drugs is four hours. More than that might be dangerous and the patient might need to seek medical help. Pills also have side effects which include a headache and stuffy nose.

Another method is by injections and suppositories. A drug called alprostadil will be injected into the penis to boost the blood flow in the blood vessels. This will allow an erection to take place easier. This drug can also be inserted inside the penis via pellets but is less successful compared to using injections. This drug will take effect in minutes.

Other methods are not recommended in curing erectile dysfunction. Some of the examples of not recommended methods are by adding male hormone in the body or taking an antidepressant called the Trazodone. Adding testosterone will not help, especially if the testosterone level in the body is already normal. Meanwhile. Trazodone doesn’t have enough evidence that it works against erectile dysfunction. Trazodone is an antidepressant. This can affect your medications and might be helpful if you leave it alone.
